DESCRIPTION OF THE STAGE “SHIMSHALI PEOPLE 2011″
This phase of the Satwa Guna Project is developing the last year’s objectives.
The stage is starting with a visit in China, where the team is searching for interesting material for new documentaries and new photographic series to reveal spiritual life in rural parts of China and Tibet. After one month in China, the team will pass throgh Khunjerab Pass (4800m) in Pakistan, Shimshal Area.
In Shimshal Area we will continue the two video documentaries, every 1h 30′, which wants to reveal but not to judge,aspects of the status of women in Muslim culture,traditions and local customs, beliefs and forms of mystical practices in Pakistan, Karakorum area in an attempt to perpetuate and sustain conservations of authentic values.
The first pakistani woman climber, Samina Baig is to be presented around the world, as a proof that the worldwide impression about the muslim women in Pakistan is wrong and should be corrected. Last year, in the first stage of the project, in collaboration with Mirza Ali the founding president of Pakistan Youth Outreach Programme, Samina Baig climbed a 6400m peak, becoming the first pakistani woman climber.
Life in Shimshal Village where traditions and culture are home will consist the other part of the documentary movie. The unique way of living in the mountains in a great comunity will be captured in images to be preserved for and by the next generations.
